Alpha Centauri Elite Perennial Ryegrass is a single-cultivar option — 100% Alpha Centauri, which is one of the top-performing ryegrasses we've trialled. We made it available on its own for customers who want more control over exactly what they’re putting into their lawns, whether for consistency, aesthetic, or reseeding purposes.

Elite Perennial Ryegrass Blend, on the other hand, includes a mix of elite perennial ryegrass cultivars — and it actually contains 33% Alpha Centauri as part of the blend. Blends like this are often a great choice because using multiple cultivars can help create a more resilient lawn overall. Each cultivar brings different strengths (like disease resistance, colour retention, or stress tolerance), which can help the lawn handle variable conditions better.

Both options germinate quickly (usually in 6–8 days), and both are great for full sun or light shade.

The best time to plant perennial ryegrass seed in Canada is generally during the cooler periods of the growing season. That means late Spring (late April to May) and early fall (late August to mid-September).
