Quick Guide

Seeding Intructions

Mow Short & Prep Soil

Mow existing lawn SUPER-SHORT (if overseeding) and prepare soil by loosening the top layer with a rake (regular, landscape, or detatching rake). Add 1/4" topdressing if desired/needed.

Spread Grass Seed

Spread grass seed at recommend rate. See seeding rates above.

Rake-In Seed

Incoporate seed into existing soil (or topdressing) by very lightly dragging a rake over entire area.

Roll / Compress Seed

Compress grass seed down into soil with a lawn roller (or some other object), or just tamp area down with your feet. This ensures seed-to-soil contact. Don't skip this!

‼️ COVER SEED

To get great germination you need to cover the seed to protect the area from the hot sun and help it retain moisture and stay damp. Peat moss works really well but top soil (or similar) can also be used.

💦 Water

Water and KEEP AREA DAMP AT ALL TIMES. If you let things dry out EVEN ONCE, you run the risk of  sabotaging all your hard work. If you can't be home to water, get a cheap hose timer and leave your sprinkler set up in the lawn. If you can't actively monitor your watering, a general guideline is to water 3-4 times daily for 4-7 minutes per session—usaully starting around 10a.m.
